How to Convert Vga to Avi?

convert vga to aviRecently I was asked by a friend of mine how to convert vga to avi. Well, if you know what’s the case, the question may sound a bit strange, because here we have to deal with pretty different things: a connection port from a video display on one hand, and a popular video format on the other.

Nevertheless such “conversion” can be done.

By “vga” I assume the video output. VGA (Video Graphics Array) -it is a connector interface for transferring analog video signal. Also known as D-SUB and RGB. So in order to make the conversion, we need a computer or a laptop and a particular software to record the video transmitted through the vga port to the computer.

OK, let’s see what options we have.

1. Using Frame grabbers

The method is explained here. The solution is effective but costly. You can check the price of the device here.

2. Using Recording Software

This method can be much cheaper up to zero cost. You simply need a vga cable to connect a vga device to your computer; once the signal is established, and the video is transmitted into your monitor, you can use a specific software to record it and save in .vga format. There is a Free Streaming Video Software called CamStudio. You can try it.

Probably, there are other ways to convert vga to avi, if you find one that worked best for you, I’d be glad if you share it.
