2008 was a tumultuous year not only for the United States but for the world a large because of the unfavorable prices of oil. This situation showed just how vulnerable the world economy due to over dependence on oil for energy. When the price of oil the all time mark of $147 per barrel, everyone was left in awe, considering this would reflect in almost every commodity in the market.

The high and unstable oil prices had a domino effect in all world markets, and people and institutions started to change their pending habits, if only to stay economically afloat. However, this situation as made governments to seriously ponder about the possibilities offered by renewable clean sources of energy, especially wind and sun.

These renewable are relatively easy to install and cheap in the long term, thus every property owner should consider turning to alternative energy. Once you have installed either solar or wind energy system in your home, electricity bills will drop significantly and offset the initial installation costs.

There are several solar power pros and cons, but the advantages appear to be much higher if some factors are enhanced. Installation of the solar energy system is quite simple, requiring only a solar panel, battery and the basic wiring appliances. Even if the sun is not consistent, the battery will store energy for later use.

You will also be encountered with advantages and disadvantages of wind power, the benefit mainly being the long term benefits and the major undoing being problems with availability. However, wind too can be harnessed and the energy stored in a battery if wind supply is not consistently available.

Generally, alternative sources of energy are the perfect answer to the energy problems and uncertainties facing the world today. Installing a solar or wind energy system in your home will lead to a marked reduction in the energy bills.
