Christmas Stuff Stored

Published on June 23, 2011 by in Storage Options

Getting your holiday décor out and deciding where to put everything might seem like an easy task, but putting it away at the end of it all is not the same cup of tea.  What needs to go where, what needs to get thrown out and how can you keep everything safe so that it looks just as good next year.  These are a few ideas to help you plan out your Christmas storage plan.

Plastic storage bins on wheels – these are perfect for not only storing your stuff to keep it dry and out of harms way.  It is also perfect because you can wheel it around the house as you mount things and put them in their holiday home.  This is also perfect to separate out decorations for different areas of the house.  Having everything for the tree in one, all the garlands in the other and a box with the many miscellaneous Christmas items.

Label everything – this is obvious but many years have gone by without this, only to feel frustrated the following Christmas when I can’t find something again.  Labeling is key and it can save you significant time.  If you have garlands all measured out for certain windows or the stairway then put a tag on these so that you can get them to their right place rather then piece together what it was that you did last year.

Keep parts together – whether in a plastic storage cabinet unto themselves or in large tote bins this will help your whole process go faster.  Your extra Christmas lights should be with the lights, the hooks for the decorations with the decorations and the wreath hanger with the wreath.  This can save you loads of time needing to piece a giant puzzle together then wasn’t necessary.
