The Right Bookcase for Your Home

Published on November 1, 2011 by in Furniture

If you are moving into a new home or condo, there is a good chance that you will be needing a new bookcase to match the surroundings.  I have moved so much over the past 15 years and owned so many bookcases that I think I can give some good advice by now.  The two bookcases I currently have in my home are both wonderful – I will go through what I like about them and why you might want to consider getting them as well.

The best bookcase I have owned in my entire life is my corner bookcase I bought for my bedroom last year.  Because my bedroom is much smaller than the other rooms in the house, I knew I couldn’t get a normal-sized bookcase for it.  I went the local store and they had a lovely corner bookcase, which was the perfect size and the right price.  Corner furniture is well-known for being so space-efficient.  The price is also much more reasonable than normal furniture.

Another bigger, slightly more luxury item is a large wood bookcase.  I love my wood bookcase because it looks great with any flooring you have.  I put it in my basement with cream-colored carpet and it blends perfectly with the room.  A big bookcase is a nice compliment to the corner bookcase because you can fit so many things on it.  Yes, I use it for books, but I also keep many other items on it.  I got a houseplant called a Lucky Bamboo that has made its home on the bookcase, and a number of other decorative items like a globe.

If you are looking for a new bookcase for your home, one of those two will be perfect for many households.  They are both so different, yet amazingly wonderful and unique at the same time.  I also feel if you are just using your bookcase for books that you aren’t maximizing its potential.  Try to get out there and find some good-looking items to show off on it.
